Lack of communication following cancellation.


Jetblue Airlines has consistently met my expectations as far as customer service is concerned; however, this last trip vastly lowered my experience as a flyer. Thirty minutes before my flight from Salt Lake City to Long Beach was due to board we were notified that the flight would be delayed. The flight was delayed 45 minutes so they asked us to gather in order to prepare to board and depart quickly upon the arrival of the flight. After waiting nearly an hour we were told that the flight had been cancelled! We were then told that we would be redirected to another flight the next day but that was all the information that was given. They told us that they would receive more details just ten minutes after the cancellation and unfortunately it took nearly two hours. I was in the airport waiting for a non existent flight for five hours. If they would have just communicated with us then everything would have been fine, but it was the lack of communication that led to frustration among the travelers. This lack of communication directly affected my plans and caused some major disruptions to my family who had to make a 2 hour trip to pick me up from the airport in Long Beach. When I thought the drama was finally over, the next day when departing for Long Beach we sat on the tarmac for an hour which delayed our arrival by an hour. I understand that there are malfunctions, but I also understand that there is a necessity for the Airline to communicate with its travelers. Once again this delay directly affected my schedule and the schedule of those who had to pick me up. I have always recommended JetBlue, but after this experience I will be very hesitant to recommend this airline to my friends and family.
